Boise Man Arrested on DUI Charges Following Hit-and-Run Accident

|

A driver who was involved in a hit-and-run crash has been arrested. The accident caused serious injuries to a man and woman whose identities were not revealed.

The suspect is 31-year-old Ryan K. Craftsman, a resident of Boise.

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place on the West Harness Drive near the Amity and Five Mile roads.

Craftsman struck the two pedestrians from behind around 8 p.m. as they walked along the street which has no sidewalks.

When deputies and paramedics got to the scene, they found the victims lying on the roadside. They also saw tire tracks in the area.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and then seeing a large white pickup truck with oversized tires and a large bed leaving the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office sought help in locating the vehicle that had frontal damage but no broken glass.

Based on the details provided by eyewitnesses, investigators determined that the pickup was one Craftsman drove.

They found the 2006 GMC Sierra about two miles from the scene of the crash. The damage at the front of his vehicle corroborated the other facts.

Craftsman was arrested two days after the accident. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated DUI.

Both charges are felonies that attract heavy punishment in Idaho. A felony aggravated DUI is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Craftsman has previously faced a charge of driving under the influence. Back in 2016, he was convicted and sentenced to two years of probation.
