A suspected DUI driver arrested in Meridian after she allegedly ran over a police officer was identified as Michele Green, 43, of California.
According to the details shared by the authorities, officers with the Meridian Police Department received reports of a possible drunken driver. Responding to these requests, the officers attempted to stop Green’s vehicle close to Locust Grove. Green stopped her vehicle but she locked herself in and refused to cooperate with the officers.
She then attempted to flee the scene and ran over one of the police officers in the attempt. As she did so, two of the officers who were present on the scene fired at her. One of the shots hit her in the arm. However, she still managed to escape.
Green continued to drive south on the Locust Grove Road in her attempt to escape. As she drew close to Fred Meyer along the East Loop Lane, another officer rammed her vehicle with a patrol car. Spikes were also deployed by the officers to force a stop. These tactics succeeded and Green was finally forced to stop her vehicle.
The officers then took Green into custody. One of the bullets that had been fired at her struck her in the arm. So she was first taken to a local hospital for treatment. Following the treatment, the officers escorted her to the Ada County Jail where she was booked.
The officer whom Green had allegedly run over with her vehicle also sustained several injuries. However, none of the injuries are reported as serious.
Green now faces a number of charges in connection with the incident. The primary charges include felony eluding a police officer and felony battery on a police officer. Authorities suspect that she was drunk at the time, so misdemeanor DUI suspicion charges have also been brought against her.
