A man has been charged with felony DUI in a two-vehicle crash that took place last Saturday. The accident didn’t result in any notable injuries to the persons involved.
According to the details shared by the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened only a few miles from the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Cody Ray Grimm, 31, of Idaho was driving a 2011 Audi A4 at the car. Grimm was traveling northbound on the Highway 75 when he seems to have lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle crossed the center line and hit a 1997 Ford F150 truck that was traveling southbound in the other lane. Elisabeth A. Bartleson, 33, of Ketchum was driving the truck at the time and there was also another passenger in her truck. As Grimm crossed the center line and came into the southbound lane, Bartleson veered towards the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision. While this did prevent a more catastrophic hit, Grimm’s Audi still crashed into the rear-bumper and tire on the truck’s driver’s side.
The Audi sustained significant damage to the front as a result of the collision. The Ford truck was pushed onto the road’s shoulder due to the impact of the hit and the rear sustained damage. Passengers in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time and fortunately sustained only minor injuries.
After providing preliminary medical treatment and confirming that Grimm had no injuries, the Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies had him tested for alcohol. The results revealed that his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.164%, well above the legal limit of 0.08%. He was then taken into custody by the Sheriff’s deputies. According to the deputies, Grimm also has two previous DUIs from 2012, which makes this a third DUI offense. This makes it a felony in the state of Idaho.
