A man was charged with a DUI offense after he crashed his vehicle into the front wall of a hair salon. The Pocatello DUI driver who caused the crash was identified as Levi James Shoemaker, 40.
The incident took place in Pocatello on the night of Thursday, February 4. According to the details shared by the authorities, the precise location of the crash was in the 900 block of the N. Main Street.
The building into which Shoemaker crashed his vehicle also houses a number of other commercial establishments. Its owner, J.D. Hansen, confirmed that the accident had occurred at around 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Fortunately, the hair stylist who runs the hair salon had just locked the front door and left the area. The stylist was still in the process of getting into her car to close the salon. She saw Shoemaker drive into the front of the hair salon. The sheer impact of the collision caused extensive damage to the front of the establishment. The waiting area of the salon, housed in the front part, was almost destroyed as per the building owner.
Hansen has since hired the services of a restoration company to help with the repairs. He expects the repairs to be costly as the electrical components in the walls, water supply, windows, and other areas of the wall have been extensively damaged.
No one was injured in the incident. The Pocatello DUI driver also remained safe and had no injuries to report. He has two previous DUI offenses on his record. This makes the presence incident his third DUI offense. This is why he has been charged with felony DUI.
According to the Pocatello Police Department officials, Shoemaker is due to appear in a court for the charges within a few days. He has been booked into the Bannock County Jail.
