An Idaho DUI case was reported on June 1, 2021, when a 43-year-old man hailing from Boise, Idaho, was arrested for several charges following the accident.
The man is identified as Jonathan King. The incident took place on Friday night near Pleasant Valley and Kuna Mora Road. A witness also saw a blue SUV vehicle crashing into the fence, said police.
On Friday, Boise Police Department reported that an officer was called out to the Valley Avenue and Blackmore Street area. The witnesses said a suspected impaired driver drove irresponsibly, hit a barrier before barging in a different lane, and hit someone’s fence.
The officers found physical evidence of alcohol consumption inside the vehicle as well leading to the Idaho DUI charge. They also observed signs of intoxication to confirm the suspect was drinking and driving. The police reached the scene at the time and tried to arrest Jonathan King. However, the suspect didn’t cooperate with the officers, refused to turn off the vehicle, and attempted to flee the scene. As a result, he tried to drove through the fence and hit a tree. He also hit an officer with his passenger door.
“King suddenly drove in reverse, striking a tree before driving away,” said Boise Police Department. “As King drove away, the officer stepped out of the way but was hit by the passenger door…as officers attempted to stop the vehicle, King drove through a fence and struck a tree. King was removed from the vehicle, taken into custody.”
Moments later, though, the man was detained and is currently in Ada County Jail.
The man is charged with multiple charges like driving under the influence, trying to flee the accident scene, assaulting police officers on duty, driving without privileges, and obstructing officers.
