A Clarkston woman charged with DUI and a number of other offenses following a crash on February 26 was identified by the authorities as Brittney M. Raney, 30. The accident took place on the 400 block of the D Street in Lewiston.
According to the details shared by the Lewiston Police Department, Raney was traveling westbound along the D Street at the time of the crash. As she reached the 400 block of the road, Raney ran a red light at the intersection of the D Street and 5th Street. She was traveling at a fairly high rate of speed.
As she ran the red light, Raney apparently lost control of her vehicle. The car first hit a curb and then crashed into a vehicle parked on the D Street. The impact of the collision caused significant damage to both vehicles.
Following the crash, Raney got out of the vehicle. She also had her 9-year-old child with her when the crash happened. She picked up her child and walked away from the scene of the accidents before authorities arrived.
Once the law enforcement officers reached the crash scene, they talked to the witnesses. Based on the information and directions provided by the witnesses, the officers were able to locate Raney a few blocks from the crash site. She was taken into custody as she had no injuries while paramedics were called to the scene to treat the minor injuries of the child.
Following her arrest, Raney was charged with a number of offenses. These include DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, Striking an Unattended Vehicle, and Felony Injury to a Child. A family member was called to the scene and the child was released to this family member. The Clarkston woman charged with DUI was taken to the Nez Perce County Jail.
